Owners Lois Scribner and Howard Moffett welcome you to their historic 1790s Canterbury home.
The historic guest house is conveniently located in the picturesque Center of Canterbury, in mid-state Merrimack County, New Hampshire, and is easily accessible from Interstate 93 and Route 132. We are an easy car drive from Canterbury Shaker Village. We offer a simple, quiet, restful environment partly inspired by the Shaker heritage and the rural history of Canterbury itself.
Lois regrets due to commitments in the UK she cannot take new bookings for the period June 25 to July 18. Thereafter she will be back. Existing commitments will be met with some excellent friends standing in to greet and cook during early July. The annual Canterbury Fair will be held on July 29th, and music will be presented on the front lawn again. It is possible that Lois will have to leave for England at short notice due to the medical needs of her parents but every attempt will be made to honor preexisting bookings should that happen.
The Canterbury Farmer's Market is about to open for the 2017 season, and breakfasts will continue to feature produce from both the local farms and orchards.
Lois regrets that she cannot take new bookings in the middle of August. Existing bookings will be honored but Lois will be away August 14-25 in the UK assisting her elderly parents. Thereafter, Lois and Howard will be at home in Canterbury during the foliage season, through to mid October. There will be some construction work occurring on site to create living space for them, and although this may not be picturesque, the guest rooms will be minimally affected. During the summer and fall, Lois is regularly purchasing produce from the excellent fresh foods available at the weekly Canterbury Farmer's Market.
Room Rates Changed to Summer Rates Effective May 6, 2017
The three guest rooms are delightfully and comfortably appointed and have their own ensuite bathrooms. Each is named for a significant person who contributed to the history of Canterbury.
